Haneefa de Clercq, born in Blantyre, Malawi of Malawian and Mozambican parents. She and her husband Peter, have five grown up children and two grand children who are spread all over the world. They have traveled and worked in many countries (mostly in Africa) because of the nature of United Nations Humanitarian work.
Her passion for beads and gemstones began at Sudan (2004), first by just visiting the most famous market in Khartoum called Ondourman and being exposed to the wonderful world of beads in all shapes, sizes and colours imaginable, antique trade beads, semi precious stones etc. Moving to Nairobi, Kenya in 2005 offered her the opportunity of not only discovering and buying most of the beads, but also to be taught the techniques of jewelry making. She was fortunate to meet Joran, a very experienced Kenyan jeweler who specialized in making exactly the kind of jewelry that interested her.
Her husband, Peter, has given her tremendous support and encouragement. His patience and understanding for Haneefa passion has enabled her to pursue her dream.
